Mobile application design has become one of the fastest growing fields within the industry thanks to the market penetration of smart phones on nearly every continent. In countries like Singapore where the majority of the citizens possess one sort of smart phone or another over a home computer, it becomes evn more important to continue the development and progress of design techniques for this medium. This becomes especially true for companies like who are on the bleeding edge of mobile application theory and design. It’s their approach that drives competition within the market so that we can all enjoy properly developed applications rather than the trash that populations most App Markets.

The primary challenge for design companies stems from the constant development of better hardware for mobile and tablet devices. A year doesn’t go by that a company hasn’t taken the current generation of devices and cranked it up multiple notches. How we engage with the data that is displayed to us becomes an important factor in determining what design is going to be necessary for the data being access. In a data rich world, design companies are forced to develop new and unique ways to visualize that data within the substrate of their medium.

This means working within each ecosystem that the devices exist on. Google Play, Amazon App Store or Apple’s App Store. Each one has their own restrictions and parameters that must be followed for the application to be sold through the store. Every device has its own limitations and capabilities; some allowing for incredibly advanced applications to perform impressive computation capabilities while others not at all. Your business model is going to determine exactly what you need from your application but they outstrip modern mobile websites by leaps and bounds on the right device. It’s up to you.
